i bought a rear deck lid spoiler for my 71 mach 1 from national parts depot.....

do I install it as is or does it need to get painted?

any color code for the paint? (flat black???)

I don't know about the look, but as is it should come protected from rust and such.

It should be painted a semi-gloss black with a slight "pebble grain texture". DuPont Hot Rod Black is close so is TCP global Hot Rod Flatz (I think the TCP Flatz is a bit closer to original). If you have to use a rattle can, clean it with wax and grease remover, wipe with clean lint free cloth, prime it, and top coat with Krylon 1613, long, even, 50% overlapping passes. two coats, first light to medium, let flash (5 min.), second medium wet coat, let dry at least an hour at 70+ degrees. X1- I recently repainted mine with the Dupont Hot Rod Black with light pebble grain texture as decribed by Chuck.spoiler.jpg

I sent it back. It was scratched and a piece of crap
