I'd leave the bolts a bit tighter than finger-tight, take a very easy cruise around the block or 2, then tighten to specs. This is especially true for rear suspension. I'd wait until all the metal weight is on to let the car settle naturally.

Since the suspension is in and settling, I have been doing rust remediation and continue to move forward after finishing trunk. This week I did inside the quarters in front to rear wheel. Both sides have had various levels of repairs of the last 50 years. The bondo is over 25 years old and stable, so I wanted to ensure no moisture draining off quarter window or top cause more damage, so I did wire wheel, sanding, phosphoric acid, Master silver, then gray rustoleum….still have to do touch up after this dries….

Doing rear seam sealing and paint, test painting on interior bits, using satin black and medium blue, with a chrome pen….still needs touch up…

And so it begins, the AAW rewire, and the Classic Auto Air install, along with Dash rehab and under dash rust remediation... hoping for a week or so of rust work and 3 weeks to rewire. Have to wait on AC to be manufactured, so reality is 2-3 months off the road. I took the car for one last drive around the Neighborhood before pulling the battery.

3 hours later, dash is out, AC is out, all wiring is out the last seat, the drivers is out.…let the rehab begin.

I also finished the rear of the car refurbishing, it’s done up to the doors, which will be done as I start bodywork.

I hope I can get this thing back in without scratching it up! It’s just pieced together for testing right now…

More stuff! grinding glue, rust and old seam sealer off the floorpan, firewall and underside of cowl.

Yes, I repainted everything. The metal dash was washed with hot soapy water, then sanded down with 400 grit, and fyi if you go courser you will see the sandpaper scratches. I used a metallic black dash paint from NPD for the metal structure. It’s more of a milky really dark bluish gray, definitely not black and very fine metal flake…anyway, used NPD a supplied medium metallic blue on some parts, and rustoleum satin black on others, and a chrome touch up pen. It’s not perfect, but most will not see any flaws….

Hoping thats the Estimate. LOL. It’s going to take a week or more to fix the rust and apply seam sealers. Then I will start to wire, to the point I have to stop and wait for the Classic Auto Air system, which might be 5 weeks out in production…then probably another week to finish wiring and test what I did…

More grinding, and application of phosphoric acid to neutralize rust…also cleaned up floors and hit any bare metal with phosphoric acid….will start Mastercoat Silver next.

Pull the steering column when you do. If you're working alone, it's much easier without it in the way.
