My Car
1973 Ford Mustang Fastback.

It needs to be restored!
I'm currently dealing with rust issues on my fastback. One of the main rust issues is just below the tail lights. I wonder if this part is replaceable - with the tail light panel? Or is that part of the entire back end of the car and have to weld?

Any help or suggestion is highly appreciated.

Probably just cut out and replace (weld back in) the tailight panel. Don at OMS (posted right above this one) can send you one! But like he said, pics would help.

Pic is showing panel upside down... :)

There are four main parts in that area, with four more pieces on the ends:

  • taillight panel
  • rear crossmember
  • floor pan
  • rear valance
  • drop offs (on either side of the frame rails and floor pan)
  • quarter panels (connect to the drop offs on either side)

All except the rear valance are weld-in pieces - it will screw onto the lower taillight panel and bolt to the lower portion of the quarter panels.

Hope that helps!
