Seat transformation

I started this project having to find some original seats since mine got missing years ago. I currently have the old Escort GT seats in the car now. I will be using TMI Sport XR covers with their required seat foams. I am in the waiting game now for the covers since they are made to order. They will be black with red stitching and stainless grommets.

An alternative for seating. These are out of an 08 Mustang GT. Took off stock seat tracks and pretty much bolted on 7173 seat tracks. Fit like a glove. Pic is my fathers 71 Cougar.

I do like the TMI seats though. Very cool. Post a completed pic when you are done!

Check the seat bottoms for cracks at the rear corners, and reinforce the corners. they all crack there.

non power. Used the original seat track. I'm not sure if there is a difference in power seat base for the 08 but Im sure it could be done.

Hello turrrbo6,

Your seats turned out really looking good. One of my concerns with this seat configuration is the side metal rails on the bottom seat that helps hold up the side foam. With the original and reproductions seat foams, the would fit right back into the foam and provide stock support. With the new TMI Sport R seat foams, there is a lot more foam there. What is supporting the high extra foam?

Those are slick! The only think I'm not wild about is the grommets down the middle. Just doesn't fit my tastes. But great job getting them together!
