This morning I got a call from the paint shop. They wanted me to come by to check that the paint color was right and the hood blackout was laid out correctly. They had sprayed the entire hood, and cut and buffed the driver side to see what it will look like when it's done. I think it looks awesome.
I am so excited, I can't wait for it to get done. They say they should be 2-3 weeks.
I finished up the harness for the center gauge cluster. I had installed VDO gauges a while back, but had been putting off building the harness for it until I got closer to getting the wiring stage.
So for now, I'll just try to be patient waiting for the Rickster to return. Slowly, but surely.
Thanks, guys. I think the hood stencil came out perfect. Very happy with it. They've now got the entire car in color, and while pictures don't do it justice, here are a few.
They did do a little body work to a few areas, where I didn't have it quite right. Mike and Gregg have done an awesome job on it. They still need to cut and buff it, but are hoping to have the body back to me early next week. Then they will finish cutting and buffing the removable parts and get them home after, but that will allow me to get back to work on it, while they finish up. Yes, I am super excited to get to this stage. It's the paint job I was looking for last April, and finally.....
Well, back to cleaning and painting interior trim, and polishing exterior trim. Slowly, but surely.
Thanks, everyone. It's super exciting, and I think it's looking awesome. I got a few more pictures of it today, that I thought I would share. I can't wait for them to get it done.
I'm hoping the body will come home on Monday, so I can get started assembling it.
Slowly, but surely.
I'm really glad for you, Ron. Thanks to this thread we all know how far the car has come. It's shaping up to be the tribute you intended, and I can't imagine any greater satisfaction in the project than that. Congrats!
Well, the Rickster made it home. Some parts are still at the painters getting finished up, but the body and hood are home, and they sure do look nice.
The Rickster out in the sunlight.
and back in the shop ready to get put back together.
I'm moving the battery to the trunk, so I have started working on a mount for it. Then I can run the battery cables to the engine compartment. It will be a couple more days before I've got the battery cables and routing done, but I'm making progress. Slowly, but surely.
The silver & green looks awesome!
One day far away in time, I'll have to do the same on my 71. So excuse me if I shamelessly steal a few of your picts for later ref !
