Having been raised in Akron Ohio during the 50's I remember five

tire companies operating downtown.

I ran the five companies past my mechanic and he mentioned one

he had never heard of. Which one did he miss?

I have no idea. I can only guess the companies that were around back then: Firestone, Michelin, Goodyear, BF Goodrich, ???

Kelly Springfield and Uniroyal.

General Tire?
That is number four with Firestone, Goodyear and Goodrich.

The founder of the missing company founded Goodyear.

I still remember their jingle: "Sooner or Later You'll Own General"

Seiberling Rubber Company
Bingo!

I actually lived in a house during the mid 70's said to have been

built by Frank Seiberling. It was on Jefferson and Exchange in

Akron. Shared it with 3 roommates. The 14 room 3 story brick

house was opulent. Crystal door knobs had 1912 stamped on the

brass fittings. There was a 4 car garage with living quarters above,

probably for the housekeeper. One other feature of the house was

a poltergeist.
