For another data point, I have a TKX. The aftermarket makes a ton of different shifters for it. The one I have says quickshift, 1.0-1.5" forward or backwards. This is the orientation that puts it right where it needs to go for our cars.
They also sell them with different gear ratios. Mine is the 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1, 0.72 gear set. With our 2.75:1 rear end and stock(ish) size tires (215/45r17), I'm doing 2000rpm at 74mph. 2500rpm is 92mph.
