Hi everyone.

I just rebuilt my 351c 2v 1972 (Mustang engine). I have a question about the water pump pulley. Before rebuilting it I bought the engine without any accessories (alternator, power steering, fan, water pump pulley, etc...). I just purchased a water pump pulley but I have a doubt. My crank pulley is one D0AE-6312-C and the pulley I replaced is one D1AE-8509-BA. Groove's alignment is perfect but I m feeling diameter's water pulley is a bit big. What do you think about that? Thanks

Hello nenu12,

The water pump pulley you show has an application for a 72 351 2bl with idler pully w/o AC or P/S w/o A/C. The diameter of this pulley is 6 61/64".  This pulley has ID #'s C9OE-G and D1AE-BA. Ford part # is C9OZ-8509-D.

The A/C equipped vehicles used a 5 15/16" pulley (ID# C9OE-F, D1AE-AA).   :)

The D1AE-8509-BA is a large pulley, almost 7 inches (6-61/64") diameter, and is for 351s with power steering and no a.c.
Secluff, Don C thanks a lot for your quick answer. Yes I don't have any doubt about it was mounted on a 351c. My doubt it's about the distance between water pump pulley and crank pulley because I feeling they are very close each other. I mean I don't know if D0AE-6312-C and D1AE-8509-BA can work together. Do you think the small distance between them can be a problem or not?

I don't see it as being a problem, I think mine were that close, also. The only way they could make contact is to lose the water pump bearings.
Ok Don. Thanks a lot.
