Could someone point me out to a rebuild kit for my 71 C6 behind a fresh 429?

I've been looking around and found some on E-bay, Summit etc..

They are loads of variations and somehow, it's near impossible for me to get a result that says: "OEM like full rebuild kit for your 71 C6, fun times ahead included" on summit site. Best match I get is this kit.

I'm not after the best of the best, just a kit that is necessary to restore the trans as new.

Not planning wild things, so it doesn't need the super extra heavy duty gizmo's some kits have,

tho I don't mind if it has better parts and does the job.

Should I need something like this?

or like this?

thanks by advance...

Any of the three should be good, and all three have better than stock friction materials. If you don't already have a shift kit in your transmission the TCI might be the best. That way you'll be able to chirp the tires when it shifts from 1st to 2nd :) It also comes with a new filter and what I assume is an add-on drain plug.

None of those kits include bushings. You also have to be careful with the friction and steel count, as it varied by trans model and year. The 429CJ trans has the highest count for 71 with 5 direct, 5 forward and 5 reverse frictions. Make sure you get the correct count when you order your parts, or order a couple spares. Since you're shipping to Europe, you should also order a thrust washer kit and the intermediate servo piston.

The 71 shop manual has all the details starting on page 17-10-25

Generally what you'll order is a "master kit", plus the intermediate servo, a bushing kit (if they aren't in the master kit) and a thrust washer kit.

I've used Trans Go T36169 shift kits in several C-6 cars and was happy with the level of shift firmness. It'll bark the tires when you you have your foot in it, but drives normally the rest of the time.

In addition to his rebuild videos (which are great) Ken at Bad Shoe is now selling trans rebuild kits. The prices look competitive and he will tailor the kit to your needs.

Thank you gentlemen. Very helpful replies.

I have meanwhile dropped a mail to Badshoe productions...

I've also contacted a friend who knows a bunch about US auto trans and mustangs in general (he had over 40 at some point + several other US cars)

He has the tools & knowledge. Chances are high I'm gonna have a few evenings "C6 workshop" at his place once I have a suitable kit...

Just a little update to say Ken, the badshoe owner replied to my mail within 24 hours.

He took time to reply a personal mail, with doc, not your automated Hi [inset name] blabla best in everything kuz we're around for centuries..

As I have a good vib, I'm gonna follow his advise that is start by his detailed videos first, inspect and make a list and he then compose a kit based on that list. From the few videos I already seen on C6 and the bits of lecture I've found, its clear the more you know, the better.

Plus there are only 2 episodes left of game of thrones, so I'll need soon good content to watch anyway:)
