Wheel tire size

I'm trying to fit the best wheel tire combo on my 72 stock height. I want a 17x8 0 offset wheel with 245-45-17 tire in front. And 18x9 -18mms offset wheel with 275-35-18 tire rear. Anyone done this? Any issues? Any opinion would be much appreciated. That's 's y'all!

I'm running 18x8 245/45/18 4.5" backspacing on front and 18x9 285/40/18 5.25" backspacing on the rear. There is plenty of room in the rear to go wider with the right backspacing. This is with 1" lowering coils on the front and stock leafs on the rear.Hope this helps. Ryan

Only issue you will have with that setup is that due to the lack of sidewall your car will look like it sits too high.

Big rims with low tires need lowered suspensions to look right. Ask me how I know...

Thanks Ryan. This does help. Does this combo put your tires to inner edge of your wheel well opening? I'm trying to keep the wheel/tire as close to the edges as I can. Do you have any of the issues that luxstang is referring to. This is also a concern of mine. Thanks gentleman! Good looking out.

There is still more room before it touches the inner lip. On the inside toward the leaf springs there is about 3 inches of clearance from the tire to the leaf, with more backspacing you could go with a wider rim. As for the issues luxstang mentions, the 275/35/18 side wall is shorter than the 285/40/18 side wall. The shorter the side wall the more the wheel well shows, making the car appear higher. The 285/40/18 gives more side wall, filling out the wheel well more. The leaf springs on mine are stock ones. They were new in 2000 so over the years they have settled a bit. Hope this helps.
