73 convertible
I have this ‘73 convertible that underwent a restoration back in 2004. At the time I foolishly allowed the shop to talk me into replacing the original seats with comfort weave fabric with new covers. Enclosed are photos of original seats and replacements. The new covers have a texture but are not the white/black weave of the original and not as comfortable. Does anyone today produce a comfort weave seat cover or does anyone have a source of potential original covers (really long shot I know). Thanks Stan

Just to clarify the first photo posted is the original white/black you are trying to source correct? The second and third are the replacements. It is hard to find the original comfortweave material any longer. I recall someone recently had some material for sale on the forum, but think it was sold. Look at TMI upholstery website and you can request material samples. Also SMS upholstery out of the northwest had dwindling supplies of the original material it may be worthwhile to check with them. One thing to hopefully help is that most manufacturers of seat covers also sell replacement foam. They typically pattern there covers to best fit their foam. If you are going to tear the seat apart I always recommend getting the covers and the foam from the same manufacturer. It helps alot with comfort and appearance for all of the money and hard work invested.

Thanks for this info I will check with sms. I looked at tmi but did mot see the correct white/ black weave pattern. The seats with the two small rectangular metal inserts are original. The all white are replacements. Is there anywhere on the forum like a classified section where that Upolstry might have been listed, maybe the buyer did not end up using it. You never know. Thanks

Contact SMS Fabrics; I was told to ask for Kim. I ordered Comfortweave in black and it took about a year to get and was $175/yd back then. For front and back you'll need two yards.

If I'd known I would have had it sent to TMI directly but as it is, I received it then sent it to TMI. After a hiccup or two, new seat covers with *real* Comfortweave (woven/knitted vinyl) arrived today. This is one half of the back of the back seat.

Thanks for reply. When did you order your seat center fabric? Your seats are black Mine are white. Is the trim code the same? What is your trim code? GW? I’m trying to order now. Thanks Stan.

I ordered the fabric in April of 2020 and it took at least a year to arrive. I had originally planned to order a standard (non-deluxe) replacement set and have my upholstery guy replace the center sections with the Comfortweave, but then I found out TMI would do this as a custom job for +$300 over standard pricing, so went that route.

If you get ahold of SMS, they should be able to provide you samples. This screenshot was as of today (12/9)
