Anyone know what this wiring is for? It is just hanging there and appears to have a female receptacle nearby. It is coming out of the hardness by the alternator towards the battery. 73’ w a 302. I think I can make out “fusible link “on the male end. It is coming off the alternator. The female receptacle is attached to wiring that heads toward headlight/turn signal.

First pic might be Yellow w/White dots, which should go to the A terminal on the voltage regulator. Clean the wire off with some Gojo hand cleaner or wipes to verify.

Second pic is the White w/Black stripe wire that is (or should be) connected to the Stator post on the alternator. The connector your holding I believe is the engine bay harness side, and the feed from the alternator harness looks to be missing the mating connector and is spliced into the Red w/Green stripe on the solenoid. In '73, the Stator feed is used to power the electric choke.

Considering all the splices and butt connectors visible, you might want to consider a replacement alternator harness.
