I'd get it if i had the money. Two thing worry me though. It'll take 45 days to get the title, sounds like he has a title loan on it or it's not really his. He says he runs a modification shop. At worst this means he is a tinkerer who could have caused the damage to engine he mentioned and who knows what else. If you have the mechanical ability it'll be worth it though as long as the title problem isn't a deal breaker.

45 days to get a title means it isn't his - he has to wait out the states time period - might have been left at a storage unit or has mechanic lien for unpaid engine work :)

Look at both doors sagging

It is going to need floors and inner rockers

I suspect if you unlatch the top and open the doors - you won't be able to close the doors or re-latch the top

2200.00 seems high for a non running sagging vert

Check out the frame rails and 73 convertibles seem to have a rotted LH front torque box way before other major parts rot.

I did this the first day I bought my car, (not able to close the roof or doors)

I ended up putting a Jack and a 4x4 to raise the car in the right spot to close the Roof and doors.

look it over and over again verify at least its structurally sound.

it looks like the Drivers side and Passengers side doors are sagging the same way, which could means structural issues (torque boxes and inner rockers.)

about the 45 day for the title, I sounds like there is a Lean on the car.

Wow, that thing has some frame issues, engine issues, and title issues. I suspect it has a mechanics lien because they couldn't afford to fix it and abandoned it at the shop. Regardless, I wouldn't let that stop me, but wouldn't give them any money until they had title in hand. If you have skills, you can certainly bring this thing back to life, but it will be a major project. I don't think I would pay more than $1K for it, but that's me and I live in Tennessee. With the parts on it, though, you may come out okay, even if you have to part it out. Just my 2 cents, and probably not worth that much.

Ah... the elusive Convertible Mach 1. rofl

Yeah... for that price and all that's wrong, I'd pass as well - and that's saying a lot, considering what I started with ;)

I used to live in Goleta, talk about a wet area. I would give it a really close inspection before I put any cash on the table. Who knows, if its close to you, why not give it a look?

From experience, it looks like a nightmare.

Nothing about the deal looks cozy; from the paperwork to mechanical to paint 'n body...

It's somebody else's headache.

I paid 2 for my Sportsroof, and drove it home. The rest of the mess I made meself :)

Pass.
