Thanks for your cooperation Ausssie!!!I have a lot more practice to do before I would tackle my car.
But by the time I finish Chris's car I should be getting pretty close.
A year and a half to jack it up, sounds like a 30 year prison sentence!Wife's '71 Mach1 "M code" went to the paint shop in May 2023. Went by there Friday, and yes its unbelievable but the car has been jacked up and put on jack stands! So much progress I was absolutely impressed.View attachment 94004
I built a paint booth out of 2x4, and old wedding tent and a big roll of plastic, got 16 $12 LED lights, bought a compressor for $1600, paint guns, primer and paint, assorted sandpapers, 3m finishing products, a buffer tool sanding blocks, fillers, explosion proof exhaust fan, air filters, etc, painted the car, sold the compressor for $1200…..total cost for 2 tone custom job, about $4500.Ribs has me inspired. Never done it, but hell, it's worth saving the money and the time.
Actually, the car was painted with a gloss black single coat over epoxy primer. Then vinyl wrapped the color flips from dark metallic green to black. The wrap should be good for 5-10 years on a garage queen such as mine so it is a good choice. While I am confident in my ability to paint, I know my limitations and this color flip is beyond my ability in paint, but not in vinyl wrap. I also installed that myself.Way to go guys. And rvanamg; that looks like a metalic finish?
Thats the hardest to get right.
Awesome Job on the body work and paint work, such an Awesome Job, Very Sharp Ride, How about some interior & trunk pictures?View attachment 94312View attachment 94306View attachment 94307View attachment 94309View attachment 94310View attachment 94311View attachment 94312View attachment 94313View attachment 94314View attachment 94315View attachment 94316View attachment 94317I painted one myself also. Home made plastic paint booth. Turned out pretty nice! New garage is going to have a dedicated room for painting.
It does take a lot of time and patience to do it right. Can’t wait to do my car next.
Such a Beautiful Car RIBS, I hope to see it soon!I built a paint booth out of 2x4, and old wedding tent and a big roll of plastic, got 16 $12 LED lights, bought a compressor for $1600, paint guns, primer and paint, assorted sandpapers, 3m finishing products, a buffer tool sanding blocks, fillers, explosion proof exhaust fan, air filters, etc, painted the car, sold the compressor for $1200…..total cost for 2 tone custom job, about $4500.
Didn’t have many interior pics or trunk. The interior is all original other than radio. Car only had 40,000 mikes on it. We did swap out the after market steering wheel in pic with a very nice original. I didn’t have to touch the interior thankfully!
