He's taken on quite a task, even if only for one model year. The D3AF-AA number they couldn't cross is actually D3AZ-12127-A which is listed for 73, early 74 Full size Ford and Torino 351 W with points. 1974 was when Ford started transitioning to the Duraspark system later in the production year.

Here they are for the 73 models:

351-4VCJ Manual D30F-12127-FA

Auto D30F-12127-GA

351-2V Manual N/A

Auto D3ZF-12127-CA

302-2V Manual D30F-12127-JA

Auto D3OF-12127-HB

250-1V Manual D30F-12127-BA

Auto D3OF-12127-LA

If you need the centrifugal and vacuum advance info for each that is available too.

There was also an across the counter Ford autolite kit that converted from vacuum advance to centrifugal advance dual point. You had to change the cam and shaft in the center and it came with a new plate with everything mounted. The plate sat higher to clear the weights and springs under it so the breaker cam had to move up also. I complained that my new 73 Mach 1 would barely go over 120 and they suggested putting one in so I did. It did gain a little but not much. I don't remember the part # but might run across the box in the garage one day.

I have a D3ZF-12127-GA 3C3, would this be the correct distributor on a Mach 1, 351C 2V, Automatic. The date states 3C3, 1973 March 03? The build date for the car is May, would the distributor dDistributor2.JPGate have been used on a car build date of May?
