Guy's,
While putting my 1985 460 & toploader together this weekend to check clutch operation, I found that the 80's flywheel is about 1/2" thicker and the diameter where the clutch sits is almost the same diameter as the ring gear. The flywheel will not fit into the 70's bell housing that I have. I used a boss 9 flywheel from a buddy and the whole thing worked, but the boss 9 is internal balanced and late 460's are external. Ford racing lists a flywheel for the late 460, but I cannot find any cut sheets showing exact measurements.
Anyone run into this issue when putting this package together ?
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jay
