So I know I have to switch the motor mounts on my '72 since I will be going from an old 302 to a 429. However, the mounts are technically 2 pieces. You have the brackets that hook to the frame (crossmember) and you have the insulator that bolts on to that which is what actually bolts to the engine itself. Does anyone know if both of these have to be swapped or can I reuse the old brackets from the 302?

Im pretty sure your going to have to change the whole mount out. I purchased the new Crites motor mounts for my 429 swap that i havent done yet, but i may be wrong about this, because mine is a 73 and the mounts are different. Im sure someone will come along and give you good info because there are a couple guys who are running 429 engine swaps on the forum.

There are actually 3 components. The frame stands, the engine brackets and the insulators.

See that's what I gathered too. That it was three parts. But when I switched out my 79 Ford truck motor I only needed to worry about the brackets and insulators. I will continue searching the thread for more info but I believe you all are right. More money more money... :(
