Just a curiosity question from someone unfamiliar with verts; Why are vert mounts different to any other 71-72?
I know 73's are different, but why would the motor in a 71-72 vert need to be set in a different position?

From everything I've read, the mounts were set at a different angle to deal with a vibration specific to the the convertible body style. This goes back to the 67-68 cars. AFAIK they do not change the position of the engine, as there are no convertible-specific fan shrouds.

For what it’s worth, my family has been a Ford family for better, worse or indifference.
There are just some times when you stand back, scratch something and wonder what the Charles Foxtrot is happening during the design process.
Now, I can’t blame them for a part being obsolete 52 years later but then again, as I digress, we just had a 2017 fusion experience an obsolete PCM cf with a 5 year old car.
I’m sure something will come together here but it’s the cost that scares me the most. What little I have found takes this to almost the cost of a rotating assembly or other parts I still sorely need.
Yes, we get into these projects with the expectation that there will be surprises and surprise costs.
Like I said, something will happen to help and I have made a couple efforts at contact from the advice given so, it’s more a vent post than a problem post.

The one real irony is, the surprise parts and costs are for things that cannot be excluded or allow for infirior or sub par parts.
I really could use just one month of Lucy not pulling the football out from under my foot!🤣
