Well I pulled the bumper, grill & radiator off my stang and I happen to notice on the front of my block the number 460 stamped on the right side of the engine and it was backwards. So the 1st question is: Does this mean its a 460 and not a 429? 2nd question where is the casting numbers on a 429/46o block?

Do I need to change my profile from 429 to 460! Man I want to pull this engine apart just to see what's inside it!!! :shrug2:

No, just because it has a reverse 460 on the block does NOT mean it is a 460. Both 429 and 460 motors share the same block. To make a 429 a 460, one only has to change the crankshafts. The only real difference in the blocks is that some have 2-bolt mains and some have 4-bolt mains.

The casting number is found on the right-rear cylinder bank. The number is vertical, or parallel to the engine block's rear face.

Post up the "numbers" on the block and heads and we can tell you what "version" you have.
