Hello All,

I would appreciate any input on replacing the S-shaped tension spring on a lower door hinge.  I ordered an NOS hinge that did not come with the spring so I would like to take the spring out of an old hinge and install in the new one.  Thanks!!!

I've renewed both upper and lower hinges pins last year, and from what I remember, the spring comes free once you remove the pin.

You should be able to tick it out with not much efforts on both old and new, from beneath to top (when on the car). Take you time to not damage the bronze rings by having the hinge secured. You may need to grind a bit if the pins were pressed likely having a non-round shape at the end that prevents it to move that would damage the rings.
