I was always curious about the actual design of the 1971 Mustang, so much crap out there. Some people think a Google search is research. Are there any good books?

This car is the 1970 Mustang Milano show car, always loved it, Shelby front, Pantera back end. I thought the 1971 Mustang was from this car, made for production and to fit the 429 Super Cobra Jet... wonder if it still exists.

I have heard about that particular style Mustang. But, never learned much beyond the hushed whispers I over heard from time to time. I would love to see some actual photos of one. Perhaps it is time for "me" to do some serious digging, now that you have ressurected the subject. heh heh

In those days, it seemed that each new generation of Mustang tended to ape the front end styling of the previous generations Shelby. The 69 was very reminiscent of the 68 Shelby and the 71 (with the squared off front end) looked like the 69-70 Shelby. Most specifically the 71 Boss with the chrome bumper, fender tip and hood tip moldings. As well as the NACA scoops and side stripe.

Overall, the general look of the Milano, basically a modified 70 with very much a Shelby front end, was used on the Australian Ford Falcon XA GT of the early 70s. Although, on that car, the grille was more like the 68-69 Torino.

I came upon a web sight looking for Milano pictures from the Auto Show. They only had a couple anybody have some they would like to share? almost no pictures of the inside or under the hood.

I want the tail lights, green during acceleration, yellow during coasting, red under braking. Can't believe anyone crushed this car. This would have been right around the time Ford stopped crushing salable cars (1971 Boss 302).
