Well, I got the Marti report on this car and it turns out this was no ordinary Mustang. In fact it was the quintessential Mustang, a dragster for all seasons. If I had been old enough, and had the money, then this would have been MY car:
Kevin Marti says:
DOOR DATA PLATE INFORMATION Serial Number 1F05J181198
1 1971
F Built at Dearborn
05 Mustang Mach I Sportsroof J 429-4V CJ Engine Ram Air
81198th Ford vehicle scheduled for production at Dearborn 03/71 Built: March, 1971
63R Mustang Mach I Sportsroof
C Dark Green Metallic Paint, Ford #3542-A 1A Black Ruffino/Corinthian Vinyl Bucket Seats V 3.91 Traction-Lok Rear Axle
6 Four-Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission 28 Louisville Ordering District
I will scan the Marti report on monday. This was as cool and mean a ´71 as you would ever find. Sold new in the midwest and the motor was sold for export somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard. Check it out and maybe you know or have this car. I have the engine for it.
