Convertible Top Pump and Lift Cylinders O-RINGS

Hi All, many of you Convertible owners may know of a 6-piece O-RING set that is available aftermarket. Two O-Rings are supposed to go in each hydraulic cylinder and two for the top pump. I have no leaks in my hydraulic system but am wondering if these O-Rings are needed or were originally used in Convertibles? I heard from some people using pipe dope on the fittings LOL! Thanks!

I bought new cylinders and lines and they came with a pack of small o rings, I think they were to seal the line to the cylinder and pump. I have never seen a rebuild kit. Mine looked pressed and sealed permanently.

Thanks RIBS for your reply...I'm just wondering if they are needed since they are available in the aftermarket and or if they were originally used at FORD?
