My first car was a 1977 Mitsubishi Galant Sigma that I got from my granddad when I was 18. The car was 12 years old but had only 1300km on and looked like the day it came out of the factory.

My first Mustang was the one I got now. :D

My first car in 1984 was a '74 Celica. Back then I loved it, but looking back now I consider it to be a rather girly little thing . Three years later my second car was the '70 Mach 1, and manhood was restored.

I think that 74 Celica is a classic too. I'd love to have one, girlish or not!

Saw one last week in dark blue, lowered with Mini Lite wheels and that thing looked great.

Hey Guys!!! My first car was a 1994 VW Senda (argentinian made) 4 door... EX taxi and bitten to death before i got it! :p

Was a 1.6 Diessel engine very very limited in power, luxury of any comfort what so ever :p... However i went everywhere in that thing until i cracked the floor from the cowl to the rear driving like "Rally" in some dirt roads near the beach house my parents have...

Anyway... Nice memorie!! And great post Jayson!!

As a generalization it seems that everybody I've talked to likes to talk about there first car and it's interesting the stories they tell.

Thanks guys for posting.

Growing up in my neighborhood, very few "youngsters" had cars. I purchased my first car, a 1965 Ford Falcon, upon my return from my first tour in Vietnam in 1967.

I had the money for a newer car but a Mentor advised me that since I didn't know how to drive I should start with something a bit subdued. This Mentor had a 4-speed 390 Galaxy that was wiping out the competition in the Newburgh, NY area.

The Falcon had a 289 and was really nice "to learn on" but after about four months, I went down and bought a New 428CJ Torino. I loved that car but within a year, I had orders to return overseas. I gave the car to a younger brother who drove it for several years before trading it in for something else.

Restoring my first car right now. 1972 H-Code Mach 1. Bought it for $900 in 1984, 2 months before my 16th birthday. Not as many years as Q and others, but 27 years feels like a lifetime. I saw the car in the weeds in back of a used car dealership in 1982 and saved every dime I could mowing lawns and babysitting cousins to save up the $900 bucks. It devestated me when I rode past on my bike (4 miles from home so it was a ride just to see it) and it was gone. Come to find out a guy bought it and spent a quite a bit just to get it running. After that he couldn't afford to do anything more so he put an ad in the paper to sell it. My Dad saw the ad one day during lunch and he went over to look at it. He called my Mom and she came over with the check book. I will never forget the noise coming into the garage while I was inside with my older sister. I told her to let Dad know he had a hole in his exhaust. When she opened the garage door and told me to come over and tell him I though she was just being the typical difficult older sister. Needless to say, when I came to the door and saw the car I thought was lost forever and that all of my hard work was for nothing I just fell to my knees. Other than the birth of my children and marriage to my lovely wife, I cannot think of another day when I was so happy. Dad said it was mine for the $900 I had saved and that he would help me get it running and looking better. Spent most of my high school days and every penny I earned at work on this car.

While I could only afford insurance for the mustang for three months out of the year in high school my daily driver for the other 9 months of snow and salt was a 1976 AMC Pacer. Looked like crap, but always started.

First car was 1973 Mach 1, green with white deluxe interior, fold down seat. I have a very special memory of that car... if you know what I mean. I would still have it but it was totalled by a drunk.

Second car 1973 Mustang Convertible. Still have it.

My first car was a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 4 spd 325 HP. It looked good but was tired with 90k + miles.

Fast but axle-hopped like a bad bunny. Being run hard even before I got it - the car smoked burning more oil than gas!

Loved the body style but remember the vinyl seats being big and you slid around on them - not much support.

Wow I was hard on that car!!!!! Hard powershifts with that Muncie M-22 "rock crusher" transmission.

Then I had the opportunity to drive a 72 Mustang with lots of power and no exle hop (staggered shocks). But that is another story...

Hmm. That dreaded GM exle hop! Guess it shoulda been AXLE!

Drinkin' and typin' never did go together!

Yes, Ray I know exactly what you mean about the Big Block Chevelles and their tendency to exhibit extreme axle hop, especially with the 4-speed.

My best friend had a '70 with the 454 and M22 and his axle hop was terrible...at first. We cured it with different shocks and ladder bars! That car was a MONSTER.

My first car was/is a 1973 Ford Mustang Grande...my mom gave it to me on my 13 birthday because she didn't have the time or money to fix it!!! Gotta love her <3.

My first car was a 1979 Ford F150 Tall boy with a Straight 6 (sold in 2010)

My first mustang is my current restoration 71 mach 1 351C

I also have an '88 F150 with a Supercharged Straight 6

First car was a 1954 Chevy 2 dr. Made it run and sold it for $175, age 15.

Then 60 Corvair, similar story.

Then 62 or 63 Imperial, got $400 for the 413 cross ram and trans., SCORE!

I never drove any of the above, didn't have a license.

Then 65 Impala SS (283, glide). Drove it a year and bought a REAL car, 1966 Mercury Cyclone GT.

First Mustang was 1970 Boss 302. Grabber blue, paid $2K in 1972. Sold it for $1600 (with a fresh rebuild) when I got orders for Germany in 1974. If I'd only known....... Chuck
