So I ran across a for V8 in the windsor family with 255ci in an engine rebuilding book I checked out of the library. The only thing I can find out about it is that it was made for 3 years and definitely in 1980 and 1981. Does anyone know anything about them?

They are poop. Lightened block, lightened crank, (weak) unique heads and intake with peanut ports. Bore is smaller than a 302 so you can't even put better heads on for it to breathe. Makes a nice boat anchor.

Sounds like ford was tring to compition with the little olds 260 v8 of the 80's..my gramps had one in his little wagon..It was spunky...lol..not sure about fords version thou..lol

We had a 260 Olds powered cutlass. Not a bad engine or car-though it wasn't particularly good either.
I hear ya there..His wagon had its issues..Specialy the heater fan..lol..but the motor was good little runner...there was alot of odd small v8's during that time...My cousin ripped out what we thought was a 350 out of a 80's chev lux car with low miles to stick in his camaro...It turned out too be a 267 v8...It ran like a champ thou.

Did'nt they offer those in the Fairmonts ? Not sure what else.

Does anyone know how much Hp the crank will take? Got to a part in the book that talks about it a little and it says the crank and rods will fit a 302, but if its too weak to even go in a stocker then it'd be pointless.

I wouldn't bother. The crank throws are hollowed. Stock 302 cranks are damn near free.. If your SBF needs a crank, you might as well go stroker.

Found pics of the 255 I had.
