Hello All

I have a problem

Tring to install my fuel tank filler neck and from the looks of it

it need a metal ring on the inside for the screws to mount the neck

to the rear panel is this corect or am i missing something

i got my stang as a baskett case and did not git a tank or filler

i cant seem to find any pics of the inside back part of the filler

any help will be apprecitaed

I just changed mine today. Here is a photo from the outside of the tail light panel and a photo of the filler neck. The filler neck fits in from the outside and attaches to the tail light panel with 5 coarse threaded Phillips head sheet metal screws onto the cork gasket. There is no backing ring on the tail light panel for the screws.

Here is a photo from inside the trunk with the fuel filler neck removed:

Here is a photo of the rubber gasket that goes on the filler neck inside the trunk:

There is also a rubber gasket that goes on the fuel tank where is mates to the fuel filler neck. Go ahead and get all new rubber gaskets for a good seal. Let me know if you need more pics or anything. Mine is in pieces right now waiting on new parts.

i saw thoes holes but they did not look like they

were threaded it must be a very large screw in there

i will try to look at it tomarow after the ford and shelby show

i am going to in tulsa,ok

 
There are differant screws for flip cap VS twist on cap
