Just replaced the seals in my heater box. Aside from a small problem when installing the heater core back in place with all new seals it went pretty well. Just one question..............there is a gap between the heater blend door and the lower metal frame of about 1". This is in a static condition on my workbench. It looks like if I trimmed some of the seal this door would close fully. I have the seal glued in place using the beveled corner as a guide. Should the blend door completely close, or is there supposed to be a small gap? The seal is definitely keeping the door open slightly. Also by moving the cable controlled actuator arm manually there is also the same gap at both ends of travel. I guess my question is, should the blend door close tight at both extremes of travel? I am thinking that when connected to the cable, it would be physically forced to the extremes.
