My Car
1971 351c Fastback
Hello everyone, My name is Hussain and im from Texas. Im currently stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso and that is where i found this 1971 351c fastback :) and now im hoping to restore it back to original. I've looked at most of the stuff on this car and its mostly there except the interior is shot. Sat in the el paso sun for over 7 years and never moved. Need everything in the interior and a paint job. Motor and tranny is all there and the 9" rear as well. From what i was told the 77k miles is all original so im pretty happy about that. I am very mechanically enclined and this will be my first car to restore. Any help would be appreciated : ) thank you

nice start for a project! good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Nice looking car.

Welcome and thanks for your service to our country.

And we have other servicemen who actually post from when they are deployed or at least try and catch the forum when they can. Stay safe!

Well, welcome. And it actually doesn't look that bad. I was expecting something a little more abandoned. Read up some. We like the restores but there is also nothing wrong with upgrades and 'making it your own'. :)

lol yeah its not bad at all. No rust, body is straight but the interior... well...is done for lol. Engine bay needs some cleaning and im sure a lot of hoses are dried up. It sat for 7 years or so under the sun. No fuel tank either. But that will be the first thing to get done just so i can have it running. Soon as i got it home i sprayed brake cleaner and the darn thing started up. So not that bad.

Nice ride!!! Welcome from Las Vegas! I like the color (I'm biased. I know). Don't hesitate to ask for advise. God knows I don't!!!

very nice car..... and welcome you are among friends

Hi, 7 years forgotten, how was it possible to do this to?

Doesn't look too bad after this long break. I wish I find a model like this in my neighbour, but only in my dreams...

Very nice car :)

Thanks guys lol, I like the color too so I'm going to repaint it the same color after I redo the interior. Does anyone know where I can get the fuel tank vent? Aperantly no one remanufactures them so I have to find the original :/ and it's been a pain to find one. So if anyone of you guys can help or have one laying around I will not hesitate to buy it off of you. Thanks for any help you guys can offer :)

::welcome:: from the east coast, looks like you found that pony in real nice shape.

I was very skeptical about the miles you mentioned, but after looking at the pics, I might have to rethink. The car looks really nice. Is the paint in decent enough shape to just do a partial and not repaint the whole car? If it has orginal paint - I sure would try to save what I could. Survivor cars are almost impossible to find in any kind of servicable condition.

Of course understand it is YOUR car. I am just offering a suggestion based on my opinion. It is fun to get the Marti report to help educate you as how your car was equipped from the factory.
