I think it is, they were about to start cleaning the block from grease before painting but I had to leave before taking pics

I have never seen that before, I don't think that will seal properly. Not to mention the paint on the inside of the heads can't be good for the valves. Looks like pure laziness on the machine shop.

You can wipe down the gasket mating surface with acetone to remove the paint, but you want to be very conservative in the use of the acetone as you don't want it touching the head gaskets. The valves, hopefully don't have any significant amount of paint, but if they do, it will end up in your oil and valve guides.

+1

Kind of a strange time to clean the block, the time to clean it is before assembly.

Maybe your problems weren't entirely the old man's fault.

well I went to the Mechanic and he already fixed the problem before I told him anything. He removed that paint :) and not the engine is painted, my current intake is Offenhouser Port O Sonic Model 6120 and that is the cleanest it will be, Could anyone recommend an intake to go with my 351C 4V and same height of the current one please. Thanks

Assuming a near stock build, the Edelbrock Performer should work well to a bout 5500 RPM and be about the same height as what you have now. See the Edelbrock site for exact dimensions. Chuck

running COMP Cams Magnum Hydraulic Cam 270H

http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=842&sb=2

open differential

351C 4V Closed Chamber heads with bore .040"

I think its 10.7:1 compression

ok, well the x cellerator is similar to the port o sonic, so if you liked the port o sonic, then you should like the accelerator . .

if you had a smaller cam before with the port o sonic, you will have less bottom end power now.

if you prefer to have a bit more bottom end power at the expense of around 400 rpm on top, i would buy a dual plane as suggested.

you can also get your offy polished or media blasted then clear coated with a spray can or electrostatic paint.

My previous cam was way too big for the setup I have, it was Magnum Comp Cam 292H, I think reading reviews that this will work good with my setup maybe a bit better than offy, however after I bought it earlier today I read that elderbrok RPM air gap is better, do you think so? Or I should be fine with the Weiand

the x-cellerator will have a little less bottom end than your offy.

i would block off the exhaust transfer ports on amy intake you use.

i see your carb is a 600 and that is too small for your app . . you need at least a 650 and an ss680vsf quick fuel would work well.

if you want strong mid range and more bottom than top and your gears are 3.40 or numerically less, i would buy the intake below.

i would buy remflex exhaust gaskets . . they are the least likely to leak and they wont burn out like paper ones.

blue thunder old p/n 4145 . . $445.00

im guessing your cam is already in also but if not, you will be miles ahead with either a comp xe274h or the one below . . you will basically have more power everywhere.
