Hmmm, don't laugh but they look like molds for making pasta. The fact that they seem to be made of brass would also point in that direction.

The dough is being pressed through the holes which turns them into noodles (Fusilli, Maccaroni etc)

But of course, I could be totally wrong.

Which brings me to the question why you bought them when you didn't know what they were. :)

Great Question! I guess I was hungry for Italian and did not know it.

Actually, I went to a place here in town called Restore, which is like a building products, household goods and hand tool thrift store that benefits Habitat for Humanity. I was looking for a pole saw since they had a 40% off sale, but I also wanted a bin organizer for all the Mustang bolts and U-nuts that are cleaned and laying all over my workbench. They had 2 bin organizers there, but each was full of whatever they came into the donation center with. One had screws, nuts, bolts, washers and all the crap I have too much of anyway. The other one had all these little parts you see and was half the price of the other one. As you guys noted, they appear to be well made, so I figure someone out there would love to buy them.

Probably more information than you wanted, but maybe you will take me off the crazy list now and re-file me in the junk dealer category!

I think Mike (Luxstang) nailed it. GOOD JOB!

Many of my friends at work are engineers. General consensus - they are used for extrusion of a soft/viscous material - possibly food related. Possible to form corn chips (fritos) before they are cooked? When I told them about Mike's comments they agreed quickly - pasta noodles.
