Question, so the stripe and wheel well trim and rocker trim were not available together in 72? The reason I ask is because my 73 came with it, I just removed it as it was dinged upnover the last 41 years.

A problem with "fleet" painted cars is that there is usually no color code on the door tag, or any documentation as to what exactly the color was oroginally. Without any refetence point, a "best guess" is all that anyone can use if repainting. Trying to color-match existing paint is not 100% accurate, and adding 40 years to the otiginal paint's age makes it more difficult.

If taken down for a nuts-and-bolts respray, all evidence of the original color will be gone.

In a lucky few instances the fleet color code is on the original dealer invoice, but not every time.

its like the car someone posted here a few years back, as he was parting the car out, the original color was playboy pink.

the tag was blank where the color code goes.
