Looking for all three vents like this for a '71 with A/C. The two side and centre vents in really nice shape. I would like to get them with the housings intact and if possible the front dash pieces that they sit in (this may only apply to the side vents, cant recall the centre vent set up at this time).

I also need the small circular "seat belt" light housing that slides into this hole and you then slide in the light bulb. The chrome must be really nice and not flaking.

I still need an underbody convertible structural plate that covers the driveshaft behind the transmission, if someone has a nice one that is not beat up (crud and surface rust no problem as I will blast it anyway), let me know.

As I move into the restoration of the interior on this car, the real fun is just beginning... Cheers.

Hi!

Seat Belt light is really hard to come by. Mine is cracked and the bezel is gone. I am in search of one myself. And the bottom plate as well. Good luck!

I have the RH with housing

Probably have an A/C vent

Will look for LH

I think the bottom plate is available aftermarket. If you want an original one I would be willing to swap mine out with an aftermarket. My car is so far gone from original it doesn't matter. ;) PM me and we can talk. I just put mine back on and I don't remember anything particularly wrong with it. No rust (Arizona).

Don, let me know what you have and send me an e-mail when you have a moment. BTW, Still waiting to hear back from you on the convertible cross member plate???

Looks like I will have to work with my existing "belt" light for now, it is all there, just that the faux chrome had worn off. I can paint it for now, such a small piece will be hard to notice. It's not like I am going thoroughbred...

What is the "plate" that someone brought up in this thread, don't think I need that...

Funny thing too is where your seat belt light goes you have a hole with 2 notches there whereas mine is just round, no notches. BUT, on my dash the hole where the convertible top switch goes has the 2 notches. Weird or reversed or what? By the way, my dash was not hacked by me!

Hmmm, hard to tell from your picture, but I am pretty sure that the convertible top switch was always located on the outside of the dash, nearest the door... Not sure what you mean by notches, pretty round hole in general. I just put my old "belt" light switch in for the time being...

The convertible top switch is located in the same place that the rear defrost switch.

Ignore my many extra aftermarket switches!! (electric fan, aux horn and power antenna because someone will ask! ;) )

Ken, unfortunately the seat belt lamp is another one of those 71-73 "Unicorn" parts. The lamp was not a stand alone option, but was included in the 71 Deluxe Seat Belt option (standard on the vert) and 72's built up until 12-1-71.

I know in the interim you have reinstalled your original lamp, but I would suggest contacting Midlife to see if he might have any decent lamps within his wire harness inventory. If you perform any online searches use (D1ZZ-10C876-A) if searching by part number. Hopefully one will show up one day. If I happen to find one I'll defiantly let you know!

Thanks! Yes, I found it interesting that this car had the lamp in the first place. It has few options to begin with, came with "standard" seat belts, no upgraded interior, decor, etc.

Ken: Your initial post: " I still need an underbody convertible structural plate that covers the driveshaft behind the transmission, if someone has a nice one that is not beat up (crud and surface rust no problem as I will blast it anyway), let me know. "

The Mustang convertible tunnel support plate is pretty much the same from 69- 73. I compared my 69 vert and 73 vert plates and they are identical. If interested, send me a PM since I have the one from my 69 sitting on a shelf. I would deem your project a worthy cause for it. When I installed a 2 1/2" SS exhaust we could not fit the pipes into the tunnel with the plate in place. I've been working on an alternate support system to tie the tunnel together, but will not be using the plate. It's pretty much in perfect condition.

Ken, there is a Scott Drake repo plate available now but from what I've heard it is not a thick as the OE unit. So it sounds like a deal with one of our forum members for a production installed plate would be better suited for your project. Could not remember if your plate was missing or damaged. The plate (C5ZZ-7610962-A) was used on all 65-73 Mustang convertibles. The six bolts are 3/8-16x 1-1/8 hex head bolt and washer.

Your the man! I knew that the plates were similar I believe, for all first generation mustangs, I had looked into the drake repo also which I would have bought as a temp measure if needed. Yeah, a 2 1/2" mid pipe is going to create a problem in that tunnel area, the 2 1/4" barely fit to begin with. I have a bunch of excess parts also that I need to move, I'll take a pic and send it to you to see if there is anything you can use. I'll touch base with you. Cheers

There's my confirmation on the plate ... thanks for that.

Hi, Just wanted to thank you for your offer. I was able to come up with one fairly close by from another member, but I wanted you to know that I do appreciate your offer. Thanks
