Hi Folks,

Well the first 2015 Mustangs with special factory right hand drive, have started to land here in Australia. As you may have been aware, Ford Australia, have for many decades been producing local Aussie made Fords for our own market, but like GM, have closed down their manufacturing plants for good.

Ford America will be producing X number of New Mustangs for our Australian market featuring right hand drive. Response has been good for these cars so far, with around 2000 sales deposits taken i'm told.

So for us Aussies, it's quite an historic day for us with such a turn of events you might say. I personally have mixed feelings about the body styling of these cars, but confess they look pretty mean in the photos so far. I am dying to catch up with a dealer demo one and take it for a test drive eventually.

Anyway, here's a couple of articles on the new Mustang for Oz.

I just bought a 2015 Mustang Gt Monday and while I haven't really pushed it too hard yet, I can tell you it is worth driving one if you can! It's reasonably fast and handles like a road race car with the performance package (which is quite a bargain)

I initially I was lukewarm towards the rear styling, but once inside the rear looks good out the windows and though I think the taillights looked better in 13 and 14, they too are growing on me.

As to cost, 1 USD equates to 1.4 AD. There is a 10% duty and a 10% Goods and Service tax as well. There is also a potential "Luxury Tax" as well. I fear we in the US are headed the same way. Chuck

The Australian retail price is cheaper than ours in the UK. The RHD V8 retails for £33,000, which equates to $71000 AD. That's why we're called Rip of Britain.

Strange as it seems but £33,000 for us is still cheap compared to most cars of similar power and performance.

Pretty cool hey Greg, I cant help feel let down $59000 for a GT plus options when initially they said they could be delivered for 5 grand over US sticker prices as part of justifying the cease of local manufacture. I had my name down for 1 at 40000-45000.

There will be some interesting Aus only models released very soon so that could be interesting. I am thinking stripped versions like Mopars core cars which where started here to satisfy the local market then taken back to the States also I am tipping local GT and Cobra options.

Chuck I hope not mate. Aus has become a nanny state that rides on the effort of the working man. You guys in the USA are much better at resisting/controlling your government where as ours seems to think all its citizens need to be managed.

I fear our time is coming. I heard a few years back that 50% of US taxpayers get more back than they pay into the system. The means that a significant majority of Americans live off the efforts of a working minority. We have a political party that is more than happy to expand the dependent class. Next stop, full blown socialism.

On a happier note, a friend has a '15 Mustang, great car and a great value ( in the US at least).

Well Luke nanny state is being kind don't you think. The problem is all those sooky, whiney, leftist do gooders are the ones in power here and now have some sort of authority, so they got an agenda to make everyone else's life miserable like theirs. They also know that Australians these days won't stand up to them as it might mean getting up off your bum and doing something, so all most do in this country is complain and hope someone else is going to something about it for them.

To the Mustang, sounds like a win win situatation to me. This car will have Ford back up there in sales again, something that hasn't happened for a long time for a Ford that isn't a Ranger. We are actually thinking of buying one (maybe) but I really think it'll be exactly like when the Monaro (Pontiac GTO) came back in the early 2000's. Everybody rushed out to get one to say look at me and what I've got, then after the hype died down, people lost interest, as Australia has never been really big on two door car sales. I really do hope it does work for FoA, but I really think history will repeat. Also the first batch coming is only about 5000 cars, with 3000 people already putting their money down wanting one, leaving roughly 2000 for sale with the next batch due mid next year. So much for keeping up with what people really want, which is something FoA is great at not doing. A test drive is definitely in order, but purchasing one, who knows. If I couldn't put my money down on a F6 R-Spec for near the same coin as a Mustang, it'll really need to be a special car, as the F6 with R-Spec has been called many times, as the best performance car in the world under $100K. Plus I'm waiting too see if the XR6 special edition (basically all the F6 gear) next year comes out on the ute, if so, that's where my money will be going.

wow that's is so Cool posting yet Again from you Greg!! :p:D:whistling::cool:::thumb:::thankyouyellow: My freind... Well it's a lot off Money... But hear in Denmark the New Mustang is for the Ecco boost is prist at 675,000kr and for the V8 it's 775,000kr Danish Kroner!!! :chin::mad: Regards Lars DK73

That's pretty much how I feel about the front end styling... except for the "growing on me" part (hasn't gotten there, yet - sorry). I also liked the '13-'14 headlights WAY better than the new configuration - the 2015's nose looks like a Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion bumped uglies to me. That, and the "wanna-be 240/260/280Z" quarter windows that everybody seems to have on their 2-door coupes these days, just bugs the crap out of me.

My pal Dave has a 2015 5.0, and I rode in it a few months ago in San Antonio. It was fairly comfortable and felt solid with lots of power. He can keep it, though.

Hey Eric,

The trouble is today, around the world, all the cars look pretty much the God Dam same when it comes to styling - that's the problem.:-/

They're all pissing into each others pockets, and copying each other.

Greg.:)

I agree for the most part - it's just disappointing there seems to be a lack of imagination anymore in the design industry (just like with movies and entertainment industry these days, etc.).

But, I'm not crapping on the design - it's a good-looking car and lots of people are happy with them... which is great! I just have my own ideas of how what they came up with could've been so much better (as I'm sure lots of others do as well). Keep in mind that I'm one of those guys that is never satisfied with just leaving well enough alone when it comes to certain things. :whistling:

This is the kind of copy clone type styling i'm talking about today....................

That's what made American cars so great and stood out in previous decades. You had car companies and designers who had the guts to put new flair and individual design into new models. New designs and styling breaking new ground. And boy, did they come up with some wild and beautiful looking cars, which still look fantastic today.

Example of copy design below.................................................... Kinda boring isn't it.:-/:-/:-/

The Saabstang!

If you swapped badges, you could own the Saab and a lot of people wouldn't know the difference.
