My Car
Mustang Mach 1 Fastback 1973
Hello everyone, I have already asked a few questions without having had the time to show my project myself.

I would now like to make up for this and show you the current status. I started with the Mustang in June 2023.

The car came from America to the Netherlands, then to France and now in Germany.

A real globetrotter. Unfortunately, a lot has been done or not done to the car over the years, and I am bringing it back to factory delivery condition as much as possible. I started with the underbody, then the entire trunk.

I'm currently working on the engine and, finally, the entire aging interior. I'm trying to restore and reuse as many of the original parts as possible, but some of them can no longer be saved. I look forward to your comments and feedback.

In January 2024, I started with the complete underbody to bring it back to OE specifications. The car was professionally dry ice blasted in advance to get rid of dirt and other impurities. This was absolutely necessary, as the car was obviously very fond of being chased across open fields in France.

Then we continued with the details on the underbody and the trunk. At the same time I bought the original aluminum rims from 73 in the USA and put them on. I think they look much better straight away. I also started to overhaul the original parts as close as possible to the factory condition, e.g. the servo pump.

Unfortunately, the previous owner sprayed the entire engine compartment including all parts in it black and the engine block in Ford blue without removing it. So the blue only goes as far as where the paint went, and the black is everywhere, and the original wiper motor was brought back to its factory condition by me. The servo pump, which was partially sprayed blue, is now back to its original black.

And reassemble everything, in the meantime I had given the engine compartment a coat of black silk matt paint. It now looks much better than before. I'm happy with the result. The original parts have been put back in place.

Before, there was a chrome-colored alternator, this was replaced with a factory version and I am pleased that the engine has also regained its originality. the reconditioned servo pump, now colored black again, also finds its place in the engine compartment. in the meantime, I have obtained an original 351C air filter and matched it with the "new" ford blue.

Unfortunately I am still looking for an original or reproduced wiring harness for the connection between starter relay and alternator, so if anyone still has one, please contact me. The alternator has 55 amps.
 
Your car is looking great! you have got a lot of work done and I am sure you can't wait to see it completely done. I would reach out to mid-life to see if he has the harness you are looking for. Keep up the hard work, it is paying off!
 
Awesome build Torbsim! Wish I had the room to take my Grande apart and do what you're doing. I believe National Parts Depot has the wiring for your alternator. They have one for most all applications including 55 Amp with and without gauges. They list it as a wire loom.

I wish I had a few less irons in the fire, but for now I'll keep checking in and watching the great progress lots of you have made and are making. We'll done!
What's up with that little blue car? Nice!
My buds have some old Mercedes in our barn. The Car you mean @TempStang is a Cobra 427 Replica with a Rover engine.

Hello everyone, time again for a little update. In the last few days I have taken care of the overhauled servo pump, the wiring of the front and rear headlights as well as almost all the lines and hoses for the vacuum and installed an original overhauled alternator. Thanks again for all the tips, especially @Hemikiller! The front bumper was also overhauled by me, the result is absolutely fine for the age of the bumper, I try to overhaul as much as possible with original parts and I think I have now brought around 300 original screws back to a high gloss. Next up is the wiring of the alternator. It took 3 weeks to find and order the reproduced wiring harness, but eventually, I was lucky. Unfortunately, everything always has to be delivered to Germany, which makes importing with customs not only costly but also very time-consuming, but I am confident that I will receive the final batch in the coming weeks. Here are a few snapshots of the work that has been done.
