71 H code Convertible
Good day all,

Last week I found a fantastic 71 H code convertible that had been with the last owner since the 80's. He kept it stored inside and even the bottom and floor pans look rust free. (the top broke quite a few years back, so it never left if there was even rain in the forecast) Tires were pre-2000 (no date code) and I found a good package deal on torque thrust II's and tires, so that's what she's wearing now. Still have a bit of tuneup and replace the convertible hoses, but looking forward to keeping it in the same kind of fantastic shape she was in when I got her. Looking forward to leaning on you all for expertise, as I haven't had a Ford this vintage in 20 years.

Welcome from Chicago! Nice convertible! You picked the right place, there are a lot of very knowledgeable Mustang experts here and I have found they are always willing to help when you have a question.

Welcome from Missouri. I have almost 2 complete top frames. I have taken one apart. I bet this group would be able to help you piece it back together. Any chance you are close to me?

Ironically, also Missouri. Springfield area. You?

I actually have most of the parts in place. New hoses will be here tomorrow, but it goes up and down now. (while spewing tranny fluid out the cracked hose, so I just left it down until fixed) Other piece I have but need to get put back together is the header. The one that is on the top has both of the latches broke, but the previous owner bought and gave me a header he pulled off but never got around to fixing. I've read a few things that give me a feel I'll have to peel back the top a bit to fix what I need to, but it will probably be my next task this weekend after I replace the hoses.

O'Fallon. I took my frame completely apart and refinished it. I used a few plastic bushings from another frame. Like most on here I am happy to share what I know (or think I know). My vert is not driveable yet but my other cars are. If you ever get up around here feel free to reach out!

That would be awesome! I don't make it up to STL area all that often, but I may go out of my way if I get a bit of free time. If you have had the whole convertible top apart, keep an eye out for another thread where I'm going to be looking for advice on replacing the header section of the convertible. (Don't want to overload the intro thread)
