If you go with a base/clear you can gloss it without raised paint line that catches dirt, wax, etc. etc. I personally like that method the best but mostly because matte finish does not reveal the sexy lines of the nasa hood like a gloss. My 71 vert will not have the black on the hood because I like the way it looks without it.

I prefer the flat/satin are they came originally. The body shop did several test panels for me when they did the decor group black paint on my 73.
