Questions about taking hood apart

Hi,

I need to remove all the parts of my flat hood but I’m having a few questions and I don’t wanna break things.

First: how does the front trim come off?

Those nuts are just protection from injury. Can the screws be removed? I’m puzzled here...

Then these clips:

The clips are where the hinge attaches. First of all I’m scared they will drop inside the hood if I remove them bit there’s not much room to take the off.

How do they come off?

1: the hood extension has these pressed self taping nuts, (little hats). Once removed you should be able to lift the molding up. It might stick a bit if there is some dirt or if the last paint job was done with it left on the hood. The studs are in zamak, pretty soft metal, make sure you press and turn at the same time and that your tool is aligned. If they resist a bit and you are not aligned, the stud will break. Lots of these moldings are missing studs because of this. Same applies to fenders extensions btw.

2: a small flat screwdriver at the screw hole and lift a bit while pushing out. Once the small lip is over the edge, Place the screw driver at the other side and pull for the rest of the distance, that way, it will not fall.

There is usually some non hardening caulking around the posts on the hood trim. We call those Acorn nuts usually.

The "Fender Nuts" in the hood for the hinge are made of spring steel As you slide toward the opening like stated push up on threaded part or pull down on the outside metal. If you look there is a ring of metal that catches it and prevents them falling out or into the hood. You front fenders will have same type nuts.
