Replace the Strut Rod or not

I know metal gets less reliable over time. The car is a 72 with 53k original miles on it. Should I replace these or clean up and reuse?

Clean them up, they are good to go.

I agree with @Hemikiller on this -- clean 'em up and keep using 'em! And use rubber strut rod bushings like Moog K8157.

If it's not tweaked or bent I also agree, clean it up and may put it in some "Evapo-Rust" and it will be good as new.

Unless you 'want' to spend some dollars on the really trick rods, I'd clean them up and use only rubber strut rod bushings. I have had one break after installing the crappy Midoline bushings (I hadn't heard the warnings at the time)...so Moog rubber only.

Unless damaged or bent I agree that they can be reused.
