As can be seen the exhaust tips on my '72 Mach1 have seen better days. Would like to replace them with something similar.
Did these cars come with these tips? My search has not yielded much of anything that is close to these.

Those are not production installed or Ford service part exhaust tips. Although I haven't seen any NOS versions for sale in quite some time, the last ones were in the $900.00 + range! The production installed and service chrome exhaust tips are left and right. They are made so the screw side of the clamp is on the opposite side, away from the fuel tank. The clamp was spot welded to the tip to keep it from rotating, and there is an alignment slot to keep the tip aligned properly. OE and service tips were all stamped with Ford engineering numbers.
Fortunately, there are now some repos available. Most vendors identify them as D1ZZ-5255-G, although that part number was never assigned to them by Ford and was never in the parts system. Who knows where they came up with it.
The repo version is not identified as left or right, so the clamp screw is on the same side.
The illustration shows the left side OE D1ZZ-5255-B with clamp orientation to the outside away from the fuel tank and the slot, which is aligned with the locater button on top of the tailpipe.
Don @ Ohio Mustang Supply shows out of stock on the repo tips, so I would check NPD or you may want to price shop with some of your favorite sites.

But he is looking for an extension with a resonator as part of it. As far as I can tell, that NPD part isn’t that. I suspect he’s not trying to maintain a 100 point car; I could be wrong.

Definitely not restoring to factory condition. I just like the way the exhaust system that came on the car sounds. The mufflers are after market and the exhaust note while cruising is unobtrusive. But when you give it the gas it has a nice bark to it.

These cars did not come with a resonator exhaust tip, those were added on by a previous owner. Trying to figure out exactly who made those will be very difficult. Beside the previous one put in by Steve McMahan, Hedman, Borla, PaceSetter and a bunch of other manufacturers make similar tips. The one the resembled your the most is the Hedman one, although the one being sold by Carid could be just as close, we just can't see what it looks like on the inside.

They look like a significant exhaust restriction to me. I'd look into different mufflers to solve the drone problem. Chuck

I added a nice set of chrome exhaust tips from Holley Hooker onto the exhaust outlets on our 1973 Mach 1. They were not all that costly as I recall. You can see them on the following video, along with the part number (22203HKR from Holley):

Our outlets are 3", but you can get them in different sizes. They are designed to be bolted on a tailpipe, but I see no reason they can't be welded on.

Got the Stainless Works exhaust tips last week. Not the exact dimensions of the old ones but they'll do. Definitely will flow better than the old ones.
