Well, my buy it now is less than half of where it started and there's just about 3 days left. I know it doesn't look like much in the pics but if seen similar types of projects go on ebay for 10-15k! I know the market for coupes isn't nearly what it is for fastback or convertibles, but I thought for sure that with what's been done to this car it'd be worth more. Especially since the engine/trans are worth at least $1500 alone even on a bad day. Let alone the suspension, the wiring, the interior, and oh yeah, the sheet metal!

Anyway, if anyone has even a little bit of interest remotely close to 5k let me know. Maybe we can work something out.

That's terrible and I am sorry to hear you are selling your project. I was looking at your auction seeing what might help a sale and dissassembled like it is, it may look like too daunting a task for an interested buyer. Appearence is everything on ebay so putting the body back together may help quite a bit in getting it sold.

Spend a couple of days to sand and prime the hood, trunk , doors, vallances and fenders and install them so it looks like a "car" again.

It may take a bit of extra effort than listing it as it is now but I really do believe if you do it you will get the sale you are hoping for.

My best wishes and I hope it sells for you.

Well, I have a buyer and a deposit. This is a very bitter-sweet thing for me. I hate to see it go, but at the same time I know that it's time. On the plus side I have an '11 GT lined up that I think I'm gonna pick up either this weekend or next. It won't have the "personality" of my '71, but in time I'll do things to it to make it "mine".

One of the nice things about the sale is that the guy buying it seems to be a really nice guy, and he and his son are going to work on it together. With deals like this it's always nice to know the car is going to a good home. I will suggest he join this forum and keep the build updated so hopefully we can still watch it get finished.

In the meantime, I surely won't be going anywhere as far as this site is concerned! This site has the absolute best group of people I've ever run into on a forum! I mean, where else do you know of that a member would PM you and tell you he'd like to put together a fund raiser on the site to help complete your car if in fact money was the main reason you were looking to sell!!! That's the stuff this site is built on, and for that I say keep it up, and most of all thanks!!!!

I am glad you found her a good home.

Mike; I'm very happy to hear you have it sold and I hope the new owners have fun restoring it.

Mike,

I really hope the sale goes through. That car will be missed. And I wish nothing but the best for you as you change... gears LOL.

Please encourage the new owner to join up. It will be fun continuing to see the progress.

Be on the lookout for a continuation of the SN71 thread, or a new one picking up where I left off. I sent the guy I sold my car to a link to the site. He's not actually picking the car up from my house for a few weeks, but he'll probably be poking around here sooner. I made sure to tell him it's the best forum site he'll ever be on ;)

Very good news

Today's the day...the '71 is getting picked up :( it's hard to believe that after 20yrs I won't be walking by it either in a garage or a driveway everyday. Time to close a chapter. It was by no means an easy decision, but one that I know ultimately will have been the right one.

Hopefully the new owner will follow my suggestion to join this site and keep us posted on the car as he picks up where I left off.

It's official :(
