Alright gang...on the search for seats for the coupe...both fronts and the two piece rear. Going to be reupholstering them to black, so color doesn't matter, but more importantly trying to find any source or seller within the FL area. I know @rvanamb had some great ones available...and as much as I would have grabbed those immediately, the shipping was almost the same cost as the seats, which I know will be an issue no matter what. Therefore, I am trying to locate some at least within the state so if I needed to take a road trip to pick them up, at least it's more reasonable. I'd take that drive versus spending 400 on seats and then another 400 hundred in shipping. If anyone stumbles across someone parting out or somewhat close to me...a heads up would be appreciated.

On that same note...should I not be able to find originals, does anyone have suggestions for some acceptable repros or aftermarket seats that don't look like a 13-year old gamer chair? So far between JEGS, CARiD, etc....they all seem to be racing seats, as opposed to somewhat classic seats. Curious if anyone has found some decent ones for their cars.

TMI makes nice seats that is why I have the spare originals. They are pretty expensive at a little over 1k plus seat brackets. I think they are more comfortable than the original, which is why swapped them out. Also how I know I'm getting old as I pick stuff based on comfort 😂.PXL_20241021_201926713.jpg

Yeah, I've run across those. Pricey...but I'm with you on the comfort issue. I already had to re-fabricate the brackets for both fronts (those I saved) in order to slide my 6'4" frame into the damn car. The original placement felt like I was riding on the hood.

On a separate note there is also the topic of being torn on staying original to the car. True the original seats aren't as comfy, however they are original. Which is to say, do I spend 1100 on TMI's or do I grab yours, eat the shipping, and net out with two originals that I can re-upholster for practically the same end price? Ugh...decisions. Now if I still lived in Oregon, I would have hauled out there for a road trip. lol.

Just fyi - When I bought a driver's seat from Mike @Motorcity Mustang he removed the seat back from the seat bottom so he could package them together flat. This reduced the shipping cost significantly.

Please don't put aftermarket seats in your 71-73 Mustang!! I have some seats available. I think I have 3 extra sets of at least the buckets.. No, shipping is not that hard or expensive when it's done right. Really torques me when people advertise parts for sale on a global platform, then refuse to make the effort to ship...

At some point I'm going to have a complete fold down setup available too...

Going to pick up another parts car next week.

@MOTORCITYBADBOY Sounds good. Let me know what you may have when you do. I'd rather not put aftermarkets in as well. Message me or reach out when you know more. Interested. Mines a 72 Coupe btw.

A couple of notes as well...

Save on Shipping by sending via Grey Hound Bus.

or

For and comprise and added comfort, Fox Body Seats fit perfect. Just swap out the tracks. There are other years that this will work on as well.

Easy there buddy, I was more than willing to ship, I have them boxed up in the boxes my new seats came in, just the quote from UPS,FedEx and USPS were all over 200 per box. I can't really control the cost of shipping and I want to try to protect the seats that is in great shape as I know the plastic parts are known to be brittle and don't want it damaged in shipping. I am curious how you ship cheaply. So if bothers you as much as you say, why don't you educate us on how to ship a large heavy seat cheaply. Since it is not that people aren't willing to ship. Like a normal person I put in the dimensions of the box and weight and the carrier website spits out a price.

I hear you on the topic of changing seats or staying original. My thoughts were I am not trying to build a concourse car. I have no plan of ever selling it, so why not make it what I want. You don't have to worry about effecting resell value if you never plan to sell. Now I don't want to butcher the car, but simply changing the front seats and adding a naca hood because I prefer the look of it is not too extreme. In the end it is about having a car you enjoy driving. For me that includes having a seat I don't mind sitting on for multiple hours while actually driving the car. Not that the original are bad but my new seats are definitely more comfortable. I respect those that want everything original, but for me I rather have something I enjoy than have something based on original factory constraints. Like adding sequential led taillights, not concourse but if I hit my brakes during the daytime you will notice(much brighter) and hopefully stop before you hit me lol. Basically my statement boils down to, do what make you happy with your car. Everyone has an opinion but when it come to your car only yours matters.

Agree. I'm not planning on selling it either...just not sure which way to go. My point is I'm open to both options depending on cost.

If you got ideas to get the shipping cost down I'm more then happy to look into it and sell you my seats. No offense to motor City but I'm sure they are in better shape than any he gets out of a "parts" car and I'm not making anything on shipping so the cheaper the better for both of us.

I put tops in one box then bottoms with tracks removed in another. Using my FedEx account, the prices are slightly cheaper but not much. Greyhound Bus stopped doing freight shipments which is too bad.
