It's probably legit, with a clear title, although it's also listed with a 'manual' transmission.

I'm thinking it's an accident repaired car, and the front end got blasted... so they put it all back together with what they could get (most likely a '71 & '72 Grande front clip). Notice how the front bumper is crooked.

It's also missing Sport Mirrors. But the apparent cancer on the lower quarters and door skins is what would have me concerned.

I'd try to get it for $5000 or less if it really is a Mach 1... but the asking price isn't absolutely ridiculous.

Messed up.

Wayyy to much wrong to warrant any where close to that amount of money.

'Close to original' is a very important phrase. And this car is NOT close at all.

But the hood could be correct for a Mach 1 (302 V-8 cars only) at least this was the case for 71-2. Not completely sure about 73!! But I think it is the same. On 302 Mach 1's the NASA/NACA hood was a no-cost option.

Many of 302 cars got C-4's.

Where in the heck did those seats come from?

If someone advertises something that is not as stated, people need to know.

Buyers beware. Sellers rarely do their homework...

I think the mileage is more like 139K, and I think Eric is right about the front end, its a 71-72 not a 73

as for is it a real Mach 1 or not, its all in the VIN, if it starts with 3F05FXXXXX then its a 73' Mach 1 with a 302

Hard to tell but it looks like the rear is a 73. I agree about a crashed front end then repaired with 71-2 parts. It has the correct steering wheel for a Mach 1. The standard hood for a F code 302 Mach 1 was the non-NASA hood. The NASA hood was a no cost optional item.

What makes it a Mach 1? If it has an "05" in the VIN which should be 3F05Fxxxxxxx.

"The miles are verified by the title that is clear and in my name." Well that may be true because if the car was sold after 100,000 miles the DMV clerk would just write down what they saw on the odometer. However, that is not a 39k mile car IMHO.

$5k would be the max as long as the rust is limited only to where he says and the car runs good. The other odd things could be fixed and when you have $10k in it it would be worth $12 to 18 to 20k depending how good the end result is.

Or you could end up putting an additional $15k above the sale price in it and be upside down if it is a rust bucket with a drive train that is shot.
