71 M code, light pewter 4 spd. ram air, no stripes, no spoiler, deluxe or sport interior needs compete restoration .
Has anyone used raptor or Hercules bed liner to duplicate the factory sound deadener in the rear wheel tubs? Trying to get that rough factory appearance with some stone protection...thought it might be nice on the under side of front fenders also. If you have done it did you like final results? thanks, Bryan

I sprayed raptor liner in the wheel wells, floor pans and trunk of the 71 I restored. I really like it.

I have been using Boom Mat and intend to use that for my rear wheel wells once I paint the car. I chose this product because of it's sound deadening rating but also because it is paintable. I sprayed my inner quarters doors and fenders with it and my goal is to paint over it on the inner quarters and fenders. I plan to use the same product in the rear wheel wells but do not plan to paint them afterwards.

tpj, that Boom Mat is a nice looking product. Do you know if it's rated as moisture/water resistant as automotive under coat is?

Yes it says it seals out moisture, and is crack and chip resistant. I have used it for all my cars I have now and haven't had any issues with it yet, (knock on wood). I first was introduced to it by another friend who is also in to high end sound systems, he used it in speaker enclosures. I have since used it in front pillars and doors where I was installing speakers and it really works well for controlling resonance. I started using it on inner quarters, doors, and fenders, anywhere I couldn't fit sound deadening pads and it really quieted down the cabin of the car. I used to use a 3M product for the outside of the rear wheel well but I like the finished texture of the boom mat more and have been using that instead since. I attached this snip from Design Engineering Inc.'s website with their bullet points info.
