Guys,

Made the final adjustments to my running car after starting last week. Finally !!! Bled & adjusted brakes, fabricated filler @ radiator & rad support for larger thickness radiator, finalized wiring @ distributor, painted underside of hood, rear apron & fenders trimmed up. Installed apron.

Ready to install fenders, hood, bumper & grill.

Almost ready for spin around block. Can't wait !!!

Thanks, Jay
Your project is looking very good!

Looking good, folks!

Eric - when do you anticipate the "first startup" date to be? I'm thinking about putting together a betting pool like they do for the due date for expecting mothers. :p
I have no idea. I'd hoped for next weekend... however, I'm so far behind on my 'plan' it's not even funny. I'm hoping before the 2nd weekend in November (I'm going back east to visit in-laws for a couple weeks, and I'd like to have it home while I'm gone with all the new drama kicking up).

I did manage to finish up the plumbing from the HVAC system, and decided to re-use my original power steering pressure hose (it's still good and clean inside - just gotta clean up the outside now). Pictures from Saturday.

Yesterday, I cleaned up, 'blasted, and painted the brake booster, radiator mounts, brake pedal and bracket, and dust shields (after hammering them back into shape). After spending all that time with the 'blaster, I only managed to get the rear brake hose installed and the front disc brakes themselves. The passenger side took something like two hours (because of unfamiliarity and just being an overall PITA). The driver side took about 15-minutes... then I ran out of time. Go figure.

Here's where I left off after installing the suspension - rusty ol' rotors with new wheel bearings. Not like I need brakes to get it on and off the lift:

Wire-brushed one of the dust shields - this was pretty much how bad the starting point of my project was:

After hammering, 'blasting, and paint, here's how the dust shield came out. Not perfect, but not bad either:

And finally, after two hours of struggling - the passenger side disc brake & caliper:

Just gotta put in the new booster, bench-bleed and install the master cylinder, finish plumbing the proportioning valve and all the hard lines, hook up the front hoses to the calipers (banjo bolts on the way from NPD), then I should be back on-track to get the electrical stuff for the engine squared away after installing the radiator and fan shroud I just got in (thanks again, Don!)

Thanks guys! Couldn't have done it without you and this site, that's for sure.

And to think all you had to begin with was a rusty wheelbarrow and two coat hangers. Or so it seemed.
I dunno. I think that would've been a little too generous, if you ask me. Let's just say 'The Rustang' was the nicest, most-family-friendly term out of everything my pals had come up with. ;)

Went and checked on the car today. They will start trimming it out next week. I cannot get over how much repair they did to the rear 1/4 while using very little filler. They were able to roll most of it out! Here are a couple before/after shots.1-4before&after.jpgrearbefore-after.jpgcoolhoodshot.jpg

It looks like mine! Looking good.

I walked out into the garage and looked at all the parts lying around. *sigh*

I don't even want to think about the rebuild right now. Lol

Walked by my camera sitting on the workbench and said "Oh hell, those guys must have thought I quit by now!" No. Over the weekend sent out some A/C parts to a member. Then, welded in the tail light panel and bumper support brackets as well as the latch holder assembly. Then sanded it all down with some 80 and gave it 2 light coats of primer. We have a new inspector in the garage that gave me the paws up. (Or is that the finger in Cat?)

I finally got my car off the ground. I am finally adding my new 600# coil springs, 165# leaf springs, shocks and 1 1/8" front sway bar from Maier Racing (I'm considering a 3/4" rear sway bar from Total Control). I'm also doing a set of ball joints and control arm bushings.

Got home and tore the spindles down while the paint was drying on the rearend housing. Got 1 side done and got called back into work. Oh well, hit it tomorrow.

Well you should have plenty of time with the amount of time it takes the new modern paint to dry especially if its west coast paint

I'm in the process of giving my coupe some rust bullet treatment. Wanted to go to MIR today but I need to get this done. My plan is for the car to be a driver so I'm not worried about it being done 100%. Hope this will help save the metal in the trunk as I am coating the entire floor. Will post pics when done, gotta wait for first coat to dry now.

Finished up the spindles and since I wasn't sure which coast paint I had used I went ahead and installed my heater core into the A/C box. Then after supper said "What the hell" and started putting the front end together. God I love weekends!
