Just for clarification, how is west coast paint different than east coast paint?

Did I miss something?

Finished installing the front end pieces except for the springs (got to get the compressor that was borrowed from me hopefully tomorrow) Then found a great spot to allow the upper half of the motor mounts to cure.

I went home this weekend for my 20th class reunion. While there dad signed the 71 Mustang over to me (first time it has not been in his name in over 40 years). It was a sad moment for me, but he did not want it to be a part of the estate if something happened to him.

The car may hit the paint booth this week and so I am headed down today to have her registered since 1993. I will update some photos when I can. In the meantime here is a picture from 88 or 89 (I found stuffed in a book this weekend) when the car went through an overhaul/minor registration. I remember taking this photo the day after the original green paint was sanded off and a coat of primer was applied.

More updated photos. We did not get it to the paint booth (was bumped by insurance jobs), but that is ok. Work was completed in the floors and passenger 1/4. We also found a still beautifully painted green section. Put together the coil spring compressor and must admit I was impressed at how easy it compresses the spring (1 hand easy). That allowed me to get the rest of the front end together. Starting to look like a car again!

Looks good.
Looks freaken awesome!

And "awesome job" to you too, Mark! Lookin' good, my friend!

Yesterday, I picked up the voltage regulator, starter solenoid, Duraspark module, battery cables, a battery, spark plugs, and some other nit-noids from O'Reilly's yesterday. I got the battery, alternator, voltage regulator, and starter solenoid mounted and plugged in (not yet with the battery, though). Unsuccessfully fought with trying get the plugs in, because Randy gave me Motorcraft SP-420s. I didn't think anything of it - Randy's an awesome parts guys, after all. Yeah - he should've given me SP-450s because Windsor plugs won't fit in Cleveland heads... (duh). Didn't get much done past that because the Hobby Shop manager took off to help his wife's mom whose car had died in a rough neighborhood, so I was pretty much stuck running the shop while he was gone.

So, when I swing by O'Reilly's on the way into the shop, I'll be picking up some of the right plugs, along with belts, a radiator cap, and all the fluids needed for firing it up [hopefully] later this afternoon. I still need to wire in the Duraspark module, get power the fuel pump, install the plugs & run the wires, but those shouldn't take too long.

There are a couple wires I'm concerned with (as in, WTF are they?) that I'll post pictures later. I'm thinking they're not important enough to hamper any engine running efforts... but I guess we'll see.

Got an early start this morning to get the parts car ready for a craigslist ad :). Suprisingly, I was able to pull off a pretty good balancing act getting the doors off and Don at OMS gave fantastic info for removing the dash in 1 piece. Took me longer to get all the trim off! BTW rear door frames and roof, rockers, and cowl will not go with the craigslist ad. :p

Looks like a productive day, Mark. But then again - you always seem to have productive days! :D

Got a lot done on the engine today, but not quite enough to turn the key just yet. The fuel pump is plumbed-in (finally), but I still gotta run power to it and the sending unit. It looks close, but the sway bar will clear the fuel line and pump with about an inch to spare - but I'll know more when I get the wheel back on. Still gotta mount the Duraspark box and wire up the red and white leads, along with running the last hard line on the engine and the flex lines between the firewall/apron line & the engine hard line and apron line (since I blocked off the mechanical pump). Also need to get the right fan belt for the alternator (crank/alternator... not crank/water pump/alternator) - also need to call Classic Auto Air to find out what belt I need for the alternator/crank/compressor for when I decide to run the A/C (after I get the engine running first) and if I need an idler or not (although I'm sure they would've put one in the kit, for what they charged ;) ).

Here's a shot from the front - I love the yellow Accel wires. I just wish Summit would've sent me the 'cut-to-fit' kit I remembered ordering, instead of the 'Universal Ford' kit that showed up. Oh well... maybe next time:

A shot from the driver side with the export braces tossed in there just to see how the A/C lines would route and 'hide' some things as well - Why the Hell did they make the power steering line so dang long, anyway?:

The fuel pump is mounted and plumbed (finally). I'm debating on routing the power back toward the fuel sending unit and into the car that way, instead of making a new hole under the rocker (which would be a shorter run, but all by itself... dunno yet):

My pal Jim wants me to take my Jeep to the local Mustang Round-up Car Show next Saturday, but I think I'm gonna bail on him and try to get this sucker running instead.

Nothing today, but last night I got to drool over the Boss in Dad's Garage.

They made the line that long for cooling. From what I've seen. You and I could build a car ina day. :p Come on to NC and lets try it. Great job. Looks great as usual! ::goodjob::

got 3rd gear back....I lost it while driving home from a show a few weeks ago. And as it turned out all it was a vacuum hose that had come loose (this happened when we first got it running too) so I popped it back on and the car once again drives fine

Finally got the car moved from my dad's to my name. Glad he went with me because part of it had to be motorized. Had a choice antique or classic plates. The antique was tempting but they limit I where and how much you can drive it.
