Really? doesn't look like the normal metal end that I'm used to seeing on antenna cables, OTOH, I have no idea what ford used 40 years ago. I take it that this should be routed into the passenger compartment to the hole where the radio should be (and hopefully eventually will be 
), anyone know what path it's supposed to take?

I dont think that's a connector, it looks like the cable broke off the antenna mount.

originally an F-code, automatic drivetrain converted to Q-code, 4spd. Many additional mods to interior (late model leather) and exterior (custom silver mist metallic polar white) . Badged as a "Boss 351" clone.
1973 convertible:
all in original condition and driveable. Everthing is functional with the exception of the heater and ac.
Yes!...that is an antenna cable which has been pulled out of the antenna base that is mounted to the right fender with 4 screws.

huh, makes me wonder if I should just shave the antenna... :/
I don't know what it is about these cars but they feel like their antenna's should be in the back
