1973 Q-Code Convertible
Proud new owner of a 1973 Q Code Convertible with a 4 spd manual. Purchased from the 2nd owner out of San Antonio TX, the speedo shows 81K miles and it was reportedly always garage kept. Lots of work done to bring it up to date, new front seats, recovered rear seat, wheels and tires, brakes, dual exhaust, clutch, and even an engine rebuild in '98 at 78K miles with all the paperwork. The PO claimed he had driven it about once a month since the rebuild. No rust, some minor body damage to the rear end, but rock solid all around. Needs a new top and paint, I plan to take it back to the original Medium Copper (5M). I've been looking at the 71-73 'verts for a while now but nothing serious until this showed up. It ticked so many boxes I drove 2000 miles in 2.5 days to check it out and bring it home.

This makes my fourth Mustang and my second 73, the first was a Grande Coupe with 351C 2V. Also owned a 66 Coupe 289 2V 3 spd and a 2016 GT 5.0

About me: 62 year old software developer from Ball Ground, Georgia, a small town about 45 minutes NW of Atlanta. Wife, 2 kids, grandkid on the way, 1 dog. Into cars, fishing, and photography. Been a Mustang guy since I was 16, if I ever win the lottery I'll get at least one of every year. Except the Mustang 2s. Nope, won't touch that one.

Glad to be here, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I go along.

Roger

Welcome to the '73 Vert club! And don't go bashing the '77 Cobra II until you've driven one. It was my second car and I loved it!

Welcome from Chicago! Congrats on the new purchase it looks like a really nice car!
Congrats also on the first grandchild on the way! My wife and I just welcomed our first grandchild in July this year, it is awesome you will love it, I am sure.
As a one-time 16-year-old Mustang owner, (now 60) I know how great it feels to get back behind the wheel of one, especially after a few decades without one, enjoy!😁

Congratulations and welcome from So Cal. I recently purchased a 73 Vert basket case, so it will be a while before I can post pics like yours. Grandkids are great, I have 10. From 21 to 2. I’ve got a few of them interested in my Mustangs. Hope springs eternal.

Welcome abroad from Opelika, Alabama, Nice Ride

I use to live in the Atlanta area. I lived there for over 56 years and moved to Alabama a little over three years ago. I lived in Lawrenceville for 42 years as well as other places in Atlanta. Don't miss the traffic and to many people living in the Metro Atlanta area.

Traffic and people are the main reasons I moved north and work from home :)

I'm originally from the Florida panhandle, I can't tell you how many times I've driven through Opelika. Most recently on the way back from picking her up.
Ball Ground is a nice place to live. Let me know if you know anyone looking for Parts for a 73 Mustang, I have a few parts for the 71-73 Mustangs also for sale.

I see you've got power windows -- I held out for that option when buying mine. Last thing this old guy wants to do is walk around and roll down (and eventually back up again) every window when it's time to drive top down.

Which also means I've accumulated a few spare p/w parts. Holla' if you need something.

Thanks RC. It wasn't something I was looking for but yeah, it has power windows. Most of them work ok except the passenger quarter window. I'm taking a break from fighting to take the pancake motor out right now.

I got my quarter windows working smoothly after I lubricated the mechanisms AND the tracks.
