Hurst shifter question

Does anyone know if the 1971 hurst shifter in the Boss 351 was labeled “Hurst” or “Hurst Competition Plus” on the side. I’m getting contradicting input from supposed experts and would just like to know the truth. Thanks

The shifter body simply says "HURST" with the patent numbers. BTW, the blue paint is factory as well. This is from Dec 70 Dearborn built M-code car.

There is lots of conflicting info on this. I had this one rebuilt for my other 71 Mustang, I am not sure if its original application, I only know it was in a box with some 70 Mustang parts...

Have you tried posting the question on the Boss Forum https://www.boss302.com/smf/, or contacting Bob Perkins directly? The forum on MCA is finally back up too.. It would be nice to know. I have a Boss 351, but I've never looked at the shifter that close.

While not from a 1971 Boss, this is a factory Ford shifter from my at the time 1972 R code 351c HO. I removed this shifter when the car was only a few months from brand new to replace it with a Hurst Super Shifter. The Orange is Rustoleum floor pan over spray from 50+ years ago.
