1973 mach 1 $3000 on CL

The passenger side floor pan "repair" leaves a little to be desired.......

Yeah, but for that initial buy-in price, a guy could actually afford to re-do any shoddy repairs. It's a lot of rust, but "runs & drives" instantly adds $1000 to the actual fair market value, IMHO.

Honestly, I'd be more interested in getting rid of the headlight eyelids, dash pad, and ratchet shifter than anything. :whistling:

Lots of rust ?? Where do you see lots of rust? Cowl, aprons, core support look ok. A few small dots on the lower fender. Door corners could've been patched as well as wheel wells, just one floor pan has been replaced, but not every car listed out there has "lots of rust." (The Atlanta 429 mach 1, was a perfect example:whistling when i think "lots of rust" I am looking at complete floors, trunk, tailight panel, doors, quarters, aprons and cowl! That's "alot of rust"

Unless if you count surface rust as "alot" I don't see anything that is a problem. This actually is a decent project and the price decent as well.

I think I'm uniquely qualified to point out rust on '71-'73 Mustangs. :whistling:

"Surface Rust" is not to be taken lightly. I saw some surface rust on my '71 when I first looked at it, and blew it off as being mere surface rust - boy, did I get a lesson. Check out my facebook album (button below in my sig) if there's any doubt.

I never said the price wasn't fair, but I could see where someone just glossing over what I wrote could assume I meant it was only worth $1000. Not so much, so I'll clear it up: I think the $3000 price is fair. If the car didn't run & drive, I'd knock $1000 off and start from there. My rule of thumb is that if a car runs & drives, no matter what the condition, it's worth $1000.

I also don't believe this is a bad car, either. I saw plenty of rust in a few pictures... surface rust or not. What I learned with mine is that where there is 'some,' there is 'more.' Surface rust and 45 years usually work out to be more that just surface rust.

How do you know the cowl is OK? The pictures I'm seeing don't show much of it at all... but, a repaired front floor pan section is a dead giveaway that the cowl probably has issues, just like all the 'surface rust' on the driver side floor pan... for anybody who knows anything about how Mustangs are constructed. A few small dots on the outside of fenders and quarter panels indicate much bigger problems inside.

Hey, I'm not here to argue about this - there's no way of knowing how much or how bad the rust is until an actual eyes-on inspection is done, after all. For now though, I don't disagree that this is a worthy candidate of being a good project car for a fair price. ::thumb::
