1973 Mustang convertible Q code
Hello everyone, new here. Looking for motor mounts for a 1973 convertible Q code. I have searched the forums, the internet and a number of vendor sites and have found lots of good information but no resource to purchase. At this point I would settle for having mine rebuilt, after market upgrade of some kind or a work around to use 1972 mounts which are plentiful. Thanks in advance for any help.

What are the differences in the mount design?

73 mounts are a sandwich design so in a collision the engine does not

fly out of the car.

I modified a 72 mount for my 73 coupe if I remember correctly I had

to make slots out of the holes to the block (grinder and cutting disc)

and use washers to get it lined up.

It was supposed to be a temporary fix till I got a good used original off ebay

which I did last year but the 72 mount is still in the car.

Only other option is get 71-2 vert frame mounts then use the 71-2 mounts.

Verts have unique frame mounts different (height) than other fastbacks or coupes.

Thanks Paul, so I take it no one with a 73 vert has any options but to try to do as you did and grind it until you find it fit. I wish I had the skills and tools for that, god bless you. Depressing.....

Not that hard to do took me less than 4 hrs done...taken out, copy, modify, and back in.

Dont be discouraged it's only a motor mount.

Ok, Paul, I'll man up and give it a try. Now I have a vert, in 1972 were the mounts the same for all models? If so I'll grab a set and give it a try. If not, I assume the vert mounts for 72 would be closest to mine?

Thanks again.

Joe

If you want to use 71-2 motor mounts

You need to change to 71-2 frame mounts too

Aparently Paul was able to modify the motor mounts and use them on 73 Frame mount:
